Waxing goes badly in predictable ways: double-dipped applicators, wax that is too hot, and nobody looking at your skin before they start. We hold it to the sanitation standards of a medical clinic, because that is what we are. If your skin is not in shape to be waxed that day, we will tell you and reschedule.
Waxing at Beach Glo covers brow, lip and body services, performed in a quiet treatment room inside a physician-owned Sarasota practice. We use professional-grade wax, single-use applicators with no double-dipping, and we assess your skin before we start rather than after something goes wrong.
Brow shaping, lip and facial waxing, and body waxing for the areas you would expect. Brows get the most attention, because a brow is a shape, and getting it wrong shows for weeks.
Hair removal is simple. Doing it safely on skin takes more, and the difference comes down to three things.
Sometimes the right call is not to wax you today. Skin that is sunburned, inflamed or thinned by a topical will not respond the way you want. We will say so and rebook you.
Not the morning of. It clears dead skin so hair releases cleanly and helps prevent ingrowns.
They thin the surface layer, which is exactly what you do not want under wax.
Wear sunscreen once you are back outside. Redness that settles within a few hours is normal, and results vary from person to person.
Most patients book waxing alongside something else. Brows before a facial is the most common pairing, and waxing tacks neatly onto an IV therapy appointment. Mention it when you book so we can hold the time.
Tell us about medications and recent treatments when you book. That takes ten seconds and can save a week of repair.
Roughly a quarter of an inch, about two to three weeks of growth. Shorter than that and the wax has nothing to grip, which means a patchy result and more passes over the same skin than anyone wants.
There is a sharp moment, and then it is over. Technique makes a real difference, and so does timing, since skin is more sensitive in the days before a period. Most people find it easier than expected, and easier each time.
Not in the area you are treating with it. Retinoids thin the surface layer, and waxing over that can lift skin along with the hair. Stop use for about a week beforehand. If you are on isotretinoin, waxing is off the table until well after you finish. Tell us either way; we would rather reschedule than damage your skin.
Give freshly waxed skin about twenty-four to forty-eight hours before direct sun, and use sunscreen once you are back outside. Waxed skin is temporarily more reactive, and in Sarasota that matters.
Beach Glo is physician-owned, with Dr. Kalnoky, MD on site and a family medicine practice next door for ten years. His Florida license is public record, and we link to it.
